We stayed at the Inn at Mt Shasta. I wouldn’t have expected to have good Mexican food so far from the border, but Casa Ramos Mexican was delicious and I don’t think it was the margarita talking!
I’m the morning we ate breakfast burritos at Seven Suns Coffee and cafe. We sat around playing Go Fish with the kids and drank our coffee. After we went to the Mt Shasta Fish Hatchery. This place was an amazing surprise and quite the gem. It is the oldest operating hatchery west of the Mississippi! We saw all sorts of trout from little tiny things to giant big guys that would make my Uncle Tom’s mouth water. They are bred here to get released into Lake Shasta. The real surprise was the museum that goes to the fish hatchery. The kids could have literally played there all day. They got up into the old fire truck, went on a spelunking cave crawl, played with the train exhibit, etc.
After we went on a hike to McCloud Falls near Mt. Shasta. We went to the middle falls in an effort to get the most bang for our buck out of our little legs that had to hike down and up. It was absolutely beautiful. The kids waded around in the water...too cold to go for a dip!
Then we drove up to Klamath Lake and will be here two nights. On the itinerary is Crater Lake!
